The Porcelain Crown Process

Consultation and First Appointment

During your initial consultation with Dr. Klym, he’ll determine if dental crowns are right for you. He’ll also answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Before the procedure, Dr. Klym can provide you with a form of sedation to make sure your experience is painless and stress-free. He’ll then clean your tooth and remove any decay to prepare it for a crown.

Dr. Klym will then take digital images of your teeth to get an accurate representation of them. This allows him to make sure your new dental crown matches the shape, size, and color of your other teeth.

If Dr. Klym is unable to restore your tooth, he’ll extract it before placing a crown. You’ll then need to wait three to six months for your mouth to heal before Dr. Klym can replace it with a dental implant restoration.

Placing Your Crowns

You’ll return to our Traverse City or Petoskey office for your final fitting two weeks after your first appointment. Dr. Klym will first conduct a thorough cleaning of your teeth. He’ll then place your custom porcelain crown and make any necessary adjustments.
